The 5th annual Belper Games returns this July, and promises to be the biggest yet.
The Belper Games began with a half day of fun in 2012 and has been steadily growing ever since. This year will see the first Belper Games Weekender, with 24 teams of 10 battling it out on an exciting ‘It’s a Knockout’ style course, along with a market, music, fairground rides, archery, a beer & cider festival and much more.
The games are held annually in memory of Penny Wheeler, who was from Belper and sadly passed away in December 2012. Since then, with Penny’s blessing,  the event has been organised by Belper based couple Kerry and Jim Bull. Kerry was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia aged 17, and 1/3 of the proceeds from the Belper Games each year is generously donated to Ataxia UK. Last year the event raised £6,500, with this year’s larger event set to smash that record.
The 2016 Belper Games will be held at Belper Rugby Club on 15th– 17th July, there is camping available over the weekend so even if you’re based far away, you can still take part in the fun.
