Step back in time and trek 25 miles in one day or in one weekend!

This most ancient of charity treks takes us from Lanercost Priory to Brocolitia, encompassing some of the most visited and fascinating ruins. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site and follow in the footsteps of the Roman legions on this fantastic trekking challenge.

Discover fascinating ruins of ancient Roman forts and settlements built over 2000 years ago as you Trek 25 miles along the most remarkable Roman monument in the country, Hadrian’s Wall embracing breath-taking views and fascinating ruins with the picturesque Northumberland countryside providing stunning backdrops from start to finish.

You have the option of doing the challenge in one day or three - see below for more details.

When, What's Included and How Much is it?

3 Day Trek: from Haltwhistle to Brocolitia.

Day 1

We meet at our campsite near Haltwhistle in the early evening for a group meal and event briefing.

Day 2

After breakfast, our trek begins! Distance trekked – 14 miles (approx.).

Day 3

Following breakfast we trek straight from our tents to Brocolitia. Trekking distance 11 miles (approx.). Please note, this is a complex route and itinerary and subject to change.

What's included

  • All meals will be provided from dinner on day 1 through to lunch on day 3
  • Two nights' camping (tents provided on a twin share basis)
  • All meals from dinner on day 1 to through to lunch day 3
  • Challenge Medal

What's not included

  • Travel Insurance
  • Sleeping bag and mattress
  • Tips and gratuities
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Personal trekking kit (trekking boots, poles, etc)

There are two options for registration:

  • Option A - Minimum Sponsorship

With this option, Ataxia UK pays your entry fee and we ask that you pay your £95 registration fee and that you aim to raise a minimum of £650 plus Gift Aid in sponsorship.

  • Option B - Self-Funding

With this option, you pay the £95 registration fee and the entry fee of £300. It is then up to you how much you raise in sponsorship.
