This isn’t just surviving, this is living a full, vibrant life – Mohammad Shahid

Here is a blog post from our Friend, Mohammad, who talks about his ataxia journey.
Ataxia threw a curveball at my life, but here’s the thing – it didn’t strike me out. In fact, it gave me a unique perspective, a chance to truly **live twice**.
One aspect of my life was that I was a biotechnologist employed by a large pharmaceutical business, and I was also healthy and driven. Little did I know, the very condition I was researching held a genetic twist of fate for me. But Ataxia never conquered my spirit. It might have changed the course, but it couldn’t dim the fire within. I found the love of my life, built a beautiful family with two daughters, and became a pillar in my community.
Spokesman for the Islamic community in Area? You bet. Organiser of the Bradford Ataxia support group? Absolutely. I may not be in the lab anymore, but my impact is real, and it’s personal. The irony is delicious, isn’t it? But life throws these curveballs for a reason. It’s about adapting, overcoming, and thriving.
Most days, I forget there’s anything wrong. I’m surrounded by love, purpose, and a community I’m actively building. As a Muslim Pakistani, raising awareness about ataxia within my community is a mission close to my heart. My YouTube channel (lhttps://youtu.be/3hg5cWCG5pM) is a testament to that mission.
This isn’t just surviving, this is living a full, vibrant life. Ataxia may be a part of my journey, but it doesn’t define it. I’m **unconquered**, and I invite you to join me in living twice the life – embracing challenges and rising stronger.
